Function / Content

This series consists of applications for exemption from work. The applications include annotations regarding fees, any objections, certificate number and when issued, expiry date and the signature of the Warden. Many of the applications are in docket form, consisting of vertically folded notice of application for exemption from work forms. The back of the form functions as the cover of the docket and records the exemption certificate number, the name of the applicant, information about the relevant lease and that no fees were paid and no exemption granted. The first half of the form records the relevant mining/mineral lease, a period of notice given that work will be stopped, the period of time work will be stopped and on what grounds this has been requested. The second half of the form records the applicant's signature and the date. The bottom of the form states that the application must be posted on a conspicuous part of the claim and at the Warden's office for 30 days and that any objections must be lodged at the Warden's office within those 30 days. Some applications include associated correspondence such as objections that were lodged with the Warden's office.
